➡️ SOCKS5 Support

Rayobyte Residential Proxies support SOCKS5 connections on port 1080.

You can use SOCKS5 with your standard Residential Proxy username and password, including supported location, ASN, ZIP, and session parameters.

➡️ Recommended Connection Format

We recommend using socks5h whenever your application supports it.

The socks5h format resolves the destination hostname through the proxy. Plain socks5 may resolve the hostname through your local network instead.

Endpoint:

la.residential.rayobyte.com:1080

➡️ Basic SOCKS5h Example

curl -x "socks5h://USERNAME:PASSWORD@la.residential.rayobyte.com:1080" https://ipinfo.io/json

Replace USERNAME and PASSWORD with your own Residential Proxy credentials.

➡️ SOCKS5h with Targeting

Country and ASN:

curl -x "socks5h://USERNAME:PASSWORD-country-US-asn-AS7922@la.residential.rayobyte.com:1080" https://ipinfo.io/json

Country and ZIP code:

curl -x "socks5h://USERNAME:PASSWORD-country-US-zip-43212@la.residential.rayobyte.com:1080" https://ipinfo.io/json

The ASNs and ZIP codes shown above are examples and do not guarantee current inventory.

➡️ Troubleshooting

If SOCKS5 works without targeting but stops connecting after you add a city, ZIP code, or ASN, there may not currently be a matching residential exit available.

  1. Test the basic SOCKS5 connection without targeting.
  2. Add country targeting.
  3. Add one additional targeting parameter at a time.
  4. Retry after a short delay if the connection fails.
  5. Remove the narrowest targeting parameter if the connection continues to fail.

➡️ Keep Your Credentials Secure

  • Never share your complete proxy password in tickets, screenshots, or chat messages.
  • Mask your credentials before sending configuration examples.
  • Change your proxy password if it becomes exposed.
