➡️ City Targeting Overview

City targeting allows you to request a Residential Proxy exit IP associated with a specific city.

You can select a city through the Residential Proxy Dashboard or manually add the city parameter to your proxy password.

➡️ Configure City Targeting in the Dashboard

  1. Log in to your Residential Proxy Dashboard.
  2. Click Get Started under Residential Proxies.
  3. Locate Geolocation Selection and click Update.
  4. Select your country, region or state, and city.
  5. Save your settings.

➡️ Manual City Targeting

Append -city-CITYNAME to your Residential Proxy password.

For multi-word region, state, or city names, replace spaces with underscores.

Example:

USERNAME:PASSWORD-country-US-region-California-city-Los_Angeles@la.residential.rayobyte.com:8000

➡️ City Availability

City targeting depends on active residential connections within the requested location. Availability can change throughout the day.

If your proxy works with country targeting but fails after you add a city, there may not currently be a matching residential exit online.

Try the request again after a short delay, remove the city parameter, or target the broader region or country.

We do not publish the complete supported-city list because residential inventory changes continuously. Contact support if you need us to check a particular city.

➡️ Geolocation Database Differences

Third-party geolocation services may report different city information for the same exit IP.

If the country is correct but the reported city differs, verify the exit IP using more than one reputable geolocation provider.
