Have questions about our Residential Proxies? We've covered some of the most common ones below.
For technical setup instructions and connection examples, check out our Proxy Quickstart guide.
➡️ Getting Started
How do I get started with Residential Proxies?
Once you have Residential bandwidth in your account, you can get your proxy credentials and manage your service through the Proxy Dashboard.
Need help making your first request? Follow our Proxy Quickstart guide.
How do Residential Proxies rotate?
By default, Residential Proxies rotate to a new exit IP with each request.
Need to keep an IP around for longer? No problem! You can use a sticky session to maintain the same IP across multiple requests.
Learn more about how proxy rotation and sessions work.
➡️ Targeting & Availability
What targeting options are available?
You can target Residential Proxies by:
- Country
- State/region
- City
- ZIP/postal code
- ASN
- Operating system
- IPv4 or IPv6
Keep in mind that the more specific your targeting gets, the fewer matching proxies may be available at any given time.
See how Residential Proxy targeting works for the available parameters and configuration options.
Why can't I connect when targeting a specific location or other attribute?
Our Residential network is made up of real devices, so availability can change as devices come online and offline.
More specific targeting also means a smaller pool to choose from. For example, targeting an entire country will generally give you more available proxies than targeting a particular ZIP code, ASN, or operating system within that country.
If you're having trouble connecting, try broadening your targeting and testing again.
For more information, see our Residential Proxy targeting documentation.
➡️ Sessions & Protocols
Can I keep the same Residential IP?
Yes! Sticky sessions let you keep the same Residential IP for longer instead of rotating on every request.
Because Residential IPs come from real devices, an IP can still become unavailable during a session.
See our Sticky Sessions guide for the available session options and setup instructions.
Do Residential Proxies support SOCKS5?
Yes! Residential Proxies support HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5.
SOCKS5 also supports UDP-based traffic, including HTTP/3 and STUN.
See our proxy protocols documentation for supported protocols, ports, and configuration details.
➡️ Bandwidth & Pool Availability
Does my Residential bandwidth expire?
Pay-As-You-Go Residential bandwidth doesn't expire. You can continue using it until it's gone.
Subscription plans provide bandwidth according to the plan and billing cycle you've selected.
How large is the Residential Proxy pool?
Our Residential pool is dynamic because it's made up of real devices that can come online and offline throughout the day.
Because of this, the number of available IPs—especially those matching a particular location, ASN, operating system, or other targeting option—can change over time.
If availability for a particular target is important to your project, we recommend testing it with your actual use case.
➡️ Usage & Reselling
Are your Residential Proxies ethically sourced?
Yes! Our Residential Proxies are sourced from real devices with the users' consent.
Ethical sourcing is extremely important to us, and we work with partners that meet our standards for transparency and user consent.
