➡️ How to Confirm If a Proxy Is Blocked by a Website

This guide helps you determine whether a proxy is blocked by a specific website or if the issue is related to configuration, authorization, or proxy type.

This article complements the following KBs:

➡️ Step 1: Confirm Your Proxy Is Set Up Correctly

Before testing whether a proxy is blocked, you must first confirm that it is properly configured and authorized.

  • ✔ Verify you are using the correct IP, port, and authorization method
  • ✔ Ensure your IP is authorized or credentials are correct

For full setup instructions, follow this guide: How Do I Authorize My Proxies?

Important: If your proxy is not configured correctly, it may appear “blocked” when it is actually just misconfigured.

➡️ Step 2: Verify That the Proxy Is Actively Loaded

Once configured, load the proxy into a browser or supported tool and visit an IP-check site such as:

What to look for:

  • ✔ If the displayed IP matches your proxy (or rotating exit IP), the proxy is working
  • ✔ If your real IP appears, the proxy is not loaded correctly

Note for rotating proxies: Seeing a different public IP than the entry IP is expected behavior.

➡️ Step 3: Test the Target Website

After confirming the proxy is active:

  • ✔ Visit the website you’re trying to access
  • ✔ If the site loads normally, the proxy is not blocked
  • ✔ If you encounter errors, CAPTCHAs, or access denial, the proxy may be blocked on that site

At this point, the issue is typically related to:

  • ✔ Website restrictions or anti-bot systems
  • ✔ Proxy reputation on that specific site
  • ✔ Proxy type not being suitable for the target

➡️ What to Do If the Proxy Is Blocked

Proxy blocks are common and expected—especially on restrictive platforms. Being blocked does not mean the proxy is broken.

  • ✔ Replace the proxy IP (static proxies)
  • ✔ Rotate to a new IP (rotating services)
  • ✔ Consider upgrading to a higher-trust proxy type (ISP, Residential)
