TABLE OF CONTENTS

➡️ Overview

Rayobyte’s Residential Proxies offer advanced customization, allowing you to:

  • Authorize via IP and User/Pass.
  • Geo-Target IPs based on country, region/state, and city.
  • ✔ Enable Sticky Sessions to maintain the same IP for up to 60 minutes.

To access these settings, log in to your Rayobyte Dashboard.

➡️ Authentication Methods

Our Residential Proxy offering comes with two types of authentication that can be used simultaneously. Whether you prefer to whitelist IPs or use a username and password combination, we’ve got you covered. Below, we’ll explain how to use both authentication types with your Residential Proxies.

✔ Username:Password Authentication

When you sign up for our Residential Proxy service, you’re provided with a default username and password combination used to access your proxies.

These credentials must be passed in with each request to authenticate your access.

username123:password123@la.residential.rayobyte.com:8000
  • ✔ You can update your password anytime by visiting the Profile page in your dashboard.
  • ✔ If you need your username changed, contact support@rayobyte.com or reach out to your account manager.

Example: Changing your Residential Proxy password in the dashboard

✔ IP Authorization

If you prefer IP-based access, you can whitelist your device IPs directly from your dashboard.

  1. ✔ Log in to your Rayobyte Dashboard.
  2. ✔ Go to the Home page and toggle on IP Authorization.
  3. ✔ Add the IPs you want to whitelist and click Add IP.

It takes up to 5 minutes for new IPs to fully authorize in our system. Once complete, you can generate proxy samples on the Proxy List Generator page and start using them immediately.

✔ Simultaneous Usage

You can use both authentication types at the same time. IPs added to your whitelist remain active until removed, and your username/password access always remains available.

The main difference is the domain name used to connect:

  • Username/Password Authentication: la.residential.rayobyte.com
  • IP Authorization: la.residential.ipauth.rayobyte.com

➡️ Default Proxy Format

By default, a Rayobyte Residential Proxy rotates IPs with every request and looks like this:

username123:password123@la.residential.rayobyte.com:8000

You can modify this behavior by enabling Geo-Targeting and Sticky Sessions.

➡️ Enabling Geo-Targeting

✔ Step 1: Access Geo-Targeting Settings

  1. Log in to your Rayobyte dashboard.
  2. ✔ Click "Get Started" under Residential Proxies.
  3. ✔ Locate Geolocation Selection and click "Update".

✔ Step 2: Select Your Target Location

You can target by:

  • Country:
    username123:password123-country-US
  • Region/State:
    username123:password123-country-US-region-california
  • City:
    username123:password123-country-US-region-california-city-los_angeles

Note: Use underscores (_) instead of spaces in city names.

➡️ Enabling Sticky Sessions

✔ Step 1: Access Sticky Session Settings

  1. Log in to your Rayobyte dashboard.
  2. ✔ Click "Get Started" under Residential Proxies.
  3. ✔ Locate Sessions Selection and click "Update".

✔ Step 2: Choose Between Soft and Hard Sticky Sessions

  • Soft Sticky Sessions: Keeps the same IP as long as it’s available. If it disconnects, the system automatically rotates to a new IP to keep your request flowing.

NOTE: Websites that load multiple subdomains or external assets may trigger extra rotations. For more control, consider using “-hardsession”.

  • Strict (Hard) Sticky Sessions: Maintains the same IP for the entire session duration, even if the connection drops. If the IP becomes unavailable, the request will return an error rather than automatically rotating to a new IP. This mode also prevents unwanted IP changes caused by ancillary requests (such as ads, analytics, or subresource calls) that may fail. Choose this option when connection stability and IP consistency are more critical than continuous connectivity.

✔ Step 3: Set Your Session Duration

Once you select Soft or Hard sessions, you can specify a duration (1–60 minutes):

username123:password123-session-ABCDEFG-duration-10@la.residential.rayobyte.com:8000

➡️ Combining Geo-Targeting & Sticky Sessions

To target Los Angeles, California, USA and maintain the same IP for 10 minutes:

username123:password123-country-US-region-california-city-los_angeles-session-DonUarN5-duration-10@la.residential.rayobyte.com:8000

✔ Order Matters: Geo-Targeting parameters come first, followed by Sticky Session parameters.
