Rayobyte restricts access to certain destinations to help protect our network, customers, and proxy resources from fraud, unauthorized access, and other high-risk activity.

These restrictions apply independently of your proxy plan or available bandwidth. If a destination is blocked, purchasing additional bandwidth or changing your proxy targeting will not bypass the restriction.

➡️ Why Does Rayobyte Block Certain Domains?

Why are some websites restricted?

Some destinations present a higher risk of fraud, unauthorized access, abuse, or other activity that could negatively affect customers and the Rayobyte network.

Restricting these destinations helps us maintain a reliable proxy network while supporting legitimate business and research use cases.

Our complete usage requirements are covered in Acceptable Use in Rayobyte Docs.

➡️ What Destinations Are Blocked?

What types of websites are blocked by default?

Some categories are restricted by default for all accounts. These include:

  • Government domains, including .gov destinations
  • Education domains, including .edu destinations
  • Banking and financial services, such as retail banks, payment processors, and brokerages
  • Other destinations that Rayobyte identifies as sensitive or high-risk

Rayobyte may also restrict individual domains based on abuse reports, risk assessments, or other network-protection requirements.

Can I see a complete list of blocked domains?

No. Rayobyte does not publish the complete list of individually blocked domains.

The list can change as new risks, abuse reports, and legitimate use cases are reviewed. If a specific destination is unexpectedly inaccessible, Support can help determine whether it is restricted.

➡️ Identifying a Blocked Destination

How do I know if Rayobyte is blocking the website?

When a destination is blocked by Rayobyte, the request is rejected by our network before a proxy exit is selected.

For Rayobyte proxy products, a 451 response indicates that the requested destination is blocked.

If one destination consistently fails while other websites work normally, contact Support rather than repeatedly retrying the request.

Keep in mind that an error page, CAPTCHA, 403, or similar response generated by the target website is different from a Rayobyte network restriction. In those cases, the request may have successfully reached the destination and been rejected by the website itself.

For more information about Rayobyte proxy responses, see Errors & Retries in Rayobyte Docs.

➡️ Requesting Access

Can Rayobyte allow access to a blocked category?

Potentially. We understand that legitimate businesses and researchers may need access to destinations that are restricted by default.

If you have a legitimate use case, contact Support and explain what you need to access and why. Rayobyte will review the request and may require Know Your Customer (KYC) verification before access can be approved.

Approval is based on the account and the specific use case or category being requested. Approval for one category does not automatically provide unrestricted access to other blocked destinations.

What information should I provide when requesting access?

To help us review your request, please provide:

  • The domain or category you need to access
  • A clear description of your business or project
  • What information you intend to collect or access
  • How the collected information will be used
  • Any additional documentation requested by our team during the review

Depending on the destination and use case, additional verification or supporting information may be required.

Access remains subject to Rayobyte's Acceptable Use requirements and approval is not guaranteed.

➡️ Troubleshooting

Will changing my targeting or proxy IP help if a domain is blocked?

No. A Rayobyte destination restriction is applied before an exit proxy is selected.

Changing your country, city, ZIP code, ASN, session, or other targeting options will therefore not bypass the restriction.

Repeatedly retrying the same blocked destination will not resolve it either. Contact Support if you believe you have a legitimate use case that should be reviewed.

➡️ Need Help?

If you're unsure whether a destination is restricted or whether your intended use case is permitted, contact us before proceeding. We'd rather review the use case with you upfront than have it cause an account or network issue later.

When contacting Support about a blocked destination, include the domain you're trying to access, the approximate time of a recent failed request, and a short explanation of your use case.
