Introduction

Our residential proxy offering comes with two types of authentication that can be used simultaneously. Whether you need to whitelist IPs to make use of our proxies, or you prefer to have a username and password combination to access them, we've got you covered. Below, we'll explain how you can use both types of authentication with your residential proxies.

Username:Password Authentication

When you sign up for our residential proxy service, you're provided with a default username and password combination that acts as your access credentials when using our proxies. These credentials must be passed in with each request you send into the system so that we know you're authorized to use the proxy.

You have the ability to change your password at any time in your dashboard by visiting the Profile page. If you need your username changed, please contact our support team at support@rayobyte.com or by messaging your account manager.

IP Authorization

By default, there are no IPs whitelisted in your account that authorize you to use our residential proxy service. You'll add IPs to the whitelist by visiting the Home page in your dashboard and selecting the toggle for IP Authorization shown here

Then, you'll simply enter the IP addresses that you need to whitelist, click the button, and wait for the 5-minute timer to expire. It takes up to 5 minutes for an IP to be fully authorized in our system and make the proxy available for use. Once completed, you can visit your Proxy List Generator page to get a sample request and you're ready to go!

Simultaneous Usage

You may ask yourself - can I use both authentication types at the same time? The answer is yes! No matter which side you toggle to, your authorized IPs will remain in your account until you remove them to be used with our residential proxies and your username and password will always work as well.

The major difference is the domain name used to connect to each authentication type. For username and password combinations, you'll use la.residential.rayobyte.com with your request. For IP Authorization, you'll use la.residential.ipauth.rayobyte.com.

As always, if you ever have any questions, please contact our support team at support@rayobyte.com.
